From producer David Eliza and rapper/MC Kha’lil, we present the EP “Remain Silent.” An authentic and narrative hip-hop project that highlights various aspects of the Black struggle within society. Written and performed by Kha’lil, he serves as an actor, author, and journalist reporting live from the scene. He explores escapism, coping mechanisms, and trauma across a range of diverse instrumentals, pulling no punches in these raw yet vivid narratives about the outsider’s perspective.
The EP offers a deep dive into the mind of a storyteller attempting to unravel ideas through anecdotes and analogies, provoking listeners to reflect while encouraging them to ponder bigger questions. What is the true struggle? All these stories unfold across a diverse sonic palette, produced by David Eliza, whose musical arrangements provide the perfect canvas for Kha’lil’s tales. From alchemist-like drumless beats to Memphis trap and lo-fi-inspired sounds, David’s OST-like production seamlessly blends with Kha’lil’s meticulously layered lyricism.
