ABOUT

While growing up David was inspired by artists like Nas, Dr. Dre, Artful Dodger, Erykah Badu, Alchemist, D’Angelo, J Dilla, Wiley and Amy Winehouse. Eventually David started out writing and recording tracks himself as an mc, just for fun. After having difficulties getting good beats to write on, a friend showed him how to make beats himself, he was immediately sold. Starting out in FL Studio, he dove into production and dj’ing focusing on hiphop and grime. Earning himself a deal with DJ Gomes Oi! Recordings label where he released 2 EP’s under his former alias “AYA”. After a period in grime he changed his name to David Eliza and started focusing on uk garage and future bass where he released multiple singles through different international labels like UK’s Slime Recordings, Singapore’s Darker than Wax and Amsterdam-based Zen Supremacy. During all these ventures he was able to perform at major venues and festivals like Melkweg & Paradiso in Amsterdam, Free Your Mind, Dancevalley, Paaspop, Solar Festival and Doornroosje in Nijmegen to name some, getting international airplay from BBC Radio One to 22tracks and Rinse FM.

After a few years of developing himself, David Eliza traded club life for a career behind the scenes. Focussing on the thing he loves most, producing & songwriting. Where he was once a man that only produced tracks to play in his dj sets, he now writes his music with a different mindset. That transformation in sound was solely based on his wish to make music that sounded timeless, so far gettin support from major Dutch radiostations Sublime FM & NPO Jazz. Using the essence of hiphop, jazz and soul into his new compositions he found the blueprint that made him feel confident.
